Caldeira takes two booths at Heimtex 2009 (January 2009)

Caldeira is to have two stands at this year’s textile exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany. The stands will display cushions, curtains, throws, bedding from both Europe and China.

The stands will be staffed from the UK, China and USA and the exhibition will take place from 14th to 17th January. There will be new collections available on both stands which have been designed by the company’s global product development team.

Caldeira will exhibit European products at Hall 3.0 booth E51 and exhibit Chinese products in Hall 6.2 booth D50.

14 Fabric Warehouse stores acquired by Caldeira (May 2008)

Caldeira Retail Ltd has rescued 14 fabric Warehouse Stores from closure, saving approximately 200 jobs. The stores are mainly based in the South of England and the new company will have around 150,000 sq ft of retail space. The new head office will be located at the Caldeira Ltd site in Liverpool and the new company will manage its own IT systems and warehousing and distribution.

Advisors on the Fabric Warehouse deal were KPMG. Legal work was carried out by DLA piper. Property services were covered by Mason Owen and Partners and additional funding was provided by HSBC.

The stores will continue to trade under the Fabric Warehouse name.

 

UK Showroom Expansion completed (March 08)

Due to the vast amount of product available, Caldeira have expanded their showrooms. There are now two dedicated rooms displaying a full range of cushions, decorative pillows, throws and ready made curtains. Both rooms are fitted with video conferencing facilities, the showrooms are an ideal “one stop shop” for any volume retailer. The expansion allows an even wider array of both European and Chinese products to be displayed in one location. Is this the end of long haul flights....... At this year’s Heimtex 2008 buyers were able to visit two separate booths which meant an even wider selection of Caldeira’s leading cushions, decorative pillows, throws and ready made curtains on display.

The booths were linked with a revolutionary internet based video conferencing system, developed by Caldeira. The system can display in detail products by zooming in and out with the camera.

“Visitors were able to view both stands from one location and also select products from our China factory in Hangzhou or our UK showrooms in Knowsley in real time” commented Roger Davies, UK Sales Manager.

Caldeira wins Cathay Pacific the Rising Star Award (December (2007)

Cathay AwardCaldeira has won the Rising Star award sponsored by Cathy Pacific Airways and presented at a prestigious lunch at the Dorchester Hotel in London. The award was presented to Caldeira as a result of a hugely successful 2007. Eric Odone Sales and Marketing Manager of Cathay Pacific Airways explained “Caldeira’s rapid growth in China, large scale investment of assets and strong financial position particularly impressed the judges. The way in which Caldeira has used its China operation to open up markets beyond the UK has set an example to other SME’s.”

Tony Caldeira wins “Liverpool entrepreneur of the year” title (November 2007)

DLIB Livercool 012Tony Caldeira was awarded the title of “Liverpool entrepreneur of the year” at a gala dinner award held at the Crowne Plaza hotel on November 8th. The event was organised by the networking and events organisation Downtown Liverpool in Business. Frank McKenna chairman of DLIB announced the winner of the award to a packed room of guests at the finale of the event. Frank commented “It has been a fantastic year for Caldeira in 2007, the award recognises the tremendous achievments of the company in the North west region as well as in China and the USA. Tony has also been a great ambassador and supporter of the Liverpool business community.”

 

Caldeira features in “Brits Get Rich in China” documentary on UK TV (June 2007)Camera 1

Channel 4’s “Brits Get Rich in China” was shown at the prime time 9pm slot on Bank Holiday Monday 28th May 2007. The documentary follows the journeys of three UK entrepreneurs, including Tony Caldeira and shows the opportunities and threats associated with making a success of businesses in China. Alastair Cook, who has been making the film on behalf of Channel 4, was particularly excited by the Caldeira story. “For Tony it was China or bust. The fact that he has invested more than a million pounds of his own money in a factory, built in a Chinese paddy field, is amazing.” It was estimated that the TV programme had around 4-5 million viewers which was regarded as particularly high for a documentary. “Brits Get Rich in China” was selected by many of the national and regional press as the “pick of the day”.

New Caldeira USA Showroom Opened (May 2007)

CaldeiraUSA is delighted to announce the opening of its new, permanent showroom, at 261 Fifth Avenue, NY,Suite 508. The new facility includes the companys full office services and sample inventory and will be staffed by the US team throughout the year. The showroom will display a full range of decorative pillows, throws, window, chair pads and other home textile products, they are made by Caldeira at its factories in China and the UK. National Sales Manager Jeff Shaffer says that “Retailers require a 12 month a year availability, not just during market week.”

New Chinese factory Opened (February 2007)

Caldeira China (known locally as Hao Sheng textiles) has opened its new 20,000 sq. mts factory complex with a bang. The grand opening ceremony, held at the firms new Yuyue headquarters, 20 miles from Hangzhou in Zhejiang province was attended by over 200 invited guests from around the world. Both of Caldeira China’s joint venture partners and four local goverment leaders gave speeches on a special stage. After the speeches the guests were given a tour of the new complex by the partners and attended a banquet lunch. The complex, which has taken a year to build, has been completed at a cost of $3m and consists of a new factory, warehouses, offices, showrooms and staff facilities.
